Steel Cut Oats come from the inner most part of the oat kernel and have a nutty taste, a chewy texture and a golden color. Steel-cut oats are whole grain groats, the inner portion of the oat kernel, which have been cut into only two or three pieces. They are the most natural and nutrient packed selection of oats because they undergo only minimal processing. Cooking time is longer for these than rolled oats and can be used as a hot cereal, in soups and stews, breads, and baked goods. Needless to say, this nutritional powerhouse generates a lot of interest (and sales) here at our market.
