The Importance of Family Tradition
Family traditions are very important to many of us. Some stories are so inspiring and beautiful they write a book about them.

Tis the season! Family traditions are so very important to many of us during this time of the year. Many of us cook the same types of dishes and bake the same cookies as our parents did in order to keep with traditions.
Family traditions are the rituals, practices and beliefs of a family that are handed down from one generation to the next. For some folks, it’s a difficult time of year due to the loss of loved ones or family and friends that live far away. I always try to think of how difficult it is for people who spend the holidays alone and know from my own personal experiences of losing my parents and relatives just how difficult a time it is especially during the holidays. It’s important to make new family traditions too!
That’s why I was so inspired when I received a book from Kauffman’s Fruit Farm called FAITH, FAMILY & FRUIT. I was in awe turning page after page and reading about the hard work, dedication, and love that went into building their business.
They have grown their Lancaster County PA orchard and its tree fruit for 100 years! Faith, Family & Fruit includes many photographs, interesting core facts, recipes, short anecdotes and text based on thirty interviews.
Speaking of recipes, there are over fifty-five fruit-themed listings featured here almost all contributed by four generations of Kauffman women. Here are a few samples that any cooks in your kitchen will want to try!
Cider Granola
Apple Brickle Dip
Applesauce Gelatin Salad
Pork Chop Pear Skillet
Summer Peach & Melon Freeze
Strawberry Jam w/ Honey
Apples & Cider Cheesecake
Golden Pears
I’ve gotten so many delicious baking ideas from this book.
