School has officially begun. My kids are there for their first day right now. And they were excited.

Though not as excited as I am.

Don’t tell me that you mamas and papas don’t get a little bit excited by a little extra quiet time on those days the kids are back at school. Okay, maybe not you homeschooling families. But you guys are saints anyway. No really. Saints. I don’t think I have the patience to home school.

Either way, the quiet isn’t the real reason that I’m excited. The real reason is that school means one thing.

It’s Fall, y’all.

I know the calendar says we still have a couple of weeks till fall officially starts but you know what? That calendar lies. Fall starts the minute your little ones walk through those big school doors.

So bring on the lovely colored leaves, the hay rides, the cooler weather and boots. Pumpkin spiced everything.

Oh. And apples. All the apples.

But I still want a little bit of peach too. I mean, it’s early fall, y’all.

Luckily, Kauffman’s Fruit Farm has my back when I’m aching for a little taste of those fall flavors and I don’t feel like heading out to pick apples for my self. I like apples and everything but guys, seriously. Im a busy kinda lady. And the apples at the grocery store just aren’t cutting it for me.

So I got this beautiful box of fruit in the mail and you couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. Seriously. 32 pieces of fruit delivered right to my door. And look how carefully packaged! I’m not surprised though. Kauffman’s Fruit Farm puts together the best Mix ‘n Match Homegrown Fruit Gift Box!

So in this package I got…

8 Ginger Gold Apples
8 Summer Rambo Apples
8 Sansa Apples
8 Peaches
You know I had to get peaches.

So some of this ended up sliced up and eaten right away. And be still my beating heart, they’re the best apples I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. But with 32 pieces of fruit, I couldn’t resist making my favorite fall fruit recipe.

Crock pot applesauce.

But how yummy would it be with a few peaches?

So I peeled a few of each type of apple and some peaches, sliced them up and tossed them into the crock pot with a little bit of water, brown sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice. 5 hours later and I was left with this beautiful apple sauce.

Have you ever seen anything so lovely?

Not only is this sauce amazingly delicious but making it makes the whole house smell like what I assume Heaven smells like. It’s just amazing. And an easy way to use up apples!

Want to make some? Of course you do!
Let’s do it!

Crock Pot Peach Applesauce

Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 5 hr

Ingredients:

12 medium apples; peeled, cored and sliced
6 peaches; peeled and sliced
1/2 cup of water
1/2 brown sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. lemon juice

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a crock pot.
Cook on high for 5 hours, stirring occasionally.
After 5 hours, use a potato masher to create desired consistency. If you prefer it to be less chunky, use an immersion blender or food processor.

Until next time, Happy Wednesday!
