Apple Butter & Cheddar Sunset Sandwich

Hello Everyone, welcome back to the blog today. We've started something new recently in partnering with bloggers who receive the Orchard Sampler Box and create amazing meals and snacks with the contents. Today's is the first in a series by blogger Erin Shebish at Sugar Crumbs. Enjoy!

I’ve started back to school shopping. Can you believe it? That means just one thing. Summer is coming to a close. As much as it’s a bummer, I won’t deny that there are parts of fall that I’m looking forward to.

Mostly apples.

Lucky for me, apples are always in season around here. And Kauffman’s Fruit Farm is making it easier than ever to get my apple fix.

Not long ago, I got this beautiful shipment in the mail straight from Kauffman’s Fruit Farm. You know how getting mail is like Christmas for adults? Yeah. Food mail is even better, especially when it’s coming straight from the farm.

Anyway, Kauffman’s Fruit Farm sent me this beautiful Orchard Sampler Gift Box which includes 2 apples, apple shnitz and a jar of apple butter spread.

You know what I was thinking as soon as I opened this, right?

Lunch.

Oh yes. Lunch indeed. And what better way to have lunch than with a sandwich that really embodies the essence of the end of summer. I like to call this little bit of Heaven the Sunset Sandwich.

Would you look at that? Perfectly toasted bread, two types of meat, two types of perfectly melted cheese, dijon and what’s that?

Apple butter?

Oh yes, apple butter.

Apple butter is what takes this sandwich from okay to “Okay, I have to have another.” The sweetness of the butter perfectly compliments the robust flavor of the sharp cheddars.

Add in the dijon, ham and turkey and it’s a masterpiece.

My stomach is growling again.

Can you blame me? Look at that beautiful melting of cheeses.

Sigh.

I paired this sandwich with the perfectly tender and sweet apple schnitz and it was the best combination. That perfect flavor of the transition into fall from summer.

Want to make the Sunset Sandwich too? It’s easy!
