French Apple Pie Recipe

When I first opened this box I was amazed by the amount of apples that came. Layer after layer of apples and 8 peaches. I could not resist some late season peaches. Everyone in the family was encouraged to try one of the apples. When I asked them what we should make with them, their reply was: “EAT THEM”. They are totally crisp and juicy, as if you picked them yourself. However, knowing the tarter varieties would not be eaten as quickly, a french apple pie recipe came into mind.
Keeping true to a home cook, I did not peel the apples. I am sorry sometimes I just want to make a dish and not make it too fancy. I think this tasted fine with the apples and their peels, but if you have the time and desire, peel away.
Also true to my short cut philosophy, I used a pre made frozen crust. Once again, feel free to use your amazing crust recipe and send me one too.
Once you have cut all your apples, put them in your crust. I first dumped them in the crust and found it to high. Take a little time to evenly distribute them in the crust.
Make your crumb topping. I love my pastry cutter, but you can use 2 forks too.
Press the crumb topping onto the apples and bake. I place my pies on cookie sheets to save my oven from the overflow of juices.
Allow to cool and serve warm or at room temperature. YUMMY.

2. Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, and 2 tbs of flour. Place into unbaked pie shell
3. With a Pastry Blender or 2 forks, mix butter, brown sugar, and 1 cup flour until crumbly Sprinkle over apple mixture and pat down with your hands
4. Bake for 15 mins. Lower temp to 350' and bake for an additional 30 mins. Watch the pie so it does not brown too quickly. You can add tin foil over it to prevent this.
